Olsson is involved in many engineering and design projects throughout the Metroplex. Projects include improving city infrastructure, revitalizing Plano’s downtown, creating the mixed-use Grandscape development and working with data center clients. The firm also prioritizes community involvement and supports employees helping to introduce elementary students to engineering.
Katie Hertel, Olsson’s local area leader in Plano, was one of several employees who volunteered in classrooms. She helped students build structures and enjoyed seeing their creative solutions.
“These students are the future and it’s really fun seeing them imagine the possibilities,” Hertel said. “During outreach, we see the light bulb go off and students connect the dots on what engineers do. These early interactions show them it’s not just magic that makes everything work. It’s people, and that person could be them.”
Olsson is growing rapidly in Texas and has offices in Plano and Fort Worth. The engineering and design firm employs about 2,000 people throughout the country.
