Honoring our 2024 Community Champions Award Winners

We have no better example or our community commitment than the many employees who volunteer their time in the places where they live and work. To honor their efforts, we bestow annual volunteer awards to celebrate our employees' commitment to giving back to their communities.

2024 Community Champions Award

Our employees in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa employees have rallied around the Tulsa Area United Way Days of Caring for six years. Their involvement has provided an opportunity to have fun and get to know colleagues while making an impact on the community. Their 2024 Days of Caring volunteer event benefited Family and Children's Services, which supports vulnerable children, strengthens families, and provides services to those battling mental illnesses and addiction.

“We started volunteering when I joined Olsson in 2019,” said Meghan Ward, our Tulsa Community Impact Council Member. "We keep growing and getting better every year, so this award speaks volumes for our office and employees."

2024 Co-Volunteers of the Year

Devyn Diaz and Noelle Atieno Mware

Devyn Diaz, a landscape architect based in Phoenix, has spearheaded volunteer efforts for the Phoenix office as the Community Impact Council member since the fall of 2023, but he was involved in the community much earlier than that.

He helps others in the community through researching opportunities and organizations that will make the best impact. He recruits and encourages volunteering in the Phoenix and Chandler offices and then turns tohis outside network of friends and family to join in as well.

Devyn’s nominator wrote that he “treats the community like it is his family.”

He’s involved in range of community events, from a neighborhood clean-up, to a heat drive and packaging event, to the Big Dig for Kids, which provides a chance for kids from the local children’s hospital to get up close with their favorite construction vehicles.

To Noelle Atieno Mware, an associate engineer based in North Kansas City, Missouri, community is much bigger than her local neighborhood, city, or state. Though she contributes to local charities to meet food needs and encourages students to pursue careers in engineering, her favorite volunteering activity is Agua Viva, which delivers clean water to communities in Africa.

Noelle has been involved with Agua Viva for many years and was the keynote speaker at their annual gala. She has spent countless hours raising funds for the organization to boost efforts in the communities they serve. Recently, she spent 14 days in Africa installing water systems and scouting future locations.

“I have always challenged our team members to give back to the communities in which they live and work, said client relationship manager Darren Hennen, who nominated Noelle. ”Noelle has accepted that challenge and continues to make a difference.”
