As part of the Valley Metro Rail’s and the City of Mesa’s Gilbert Road Light Rail Extension project, Olsson provided site civil design for the development of the Park-and-Ride (PNR) facility located at the southwest corner of Gilbert Road and Main Street. The PNR improvements included a new asphalt concrete parking lot, related signage and marking, raised landscaped planters, screen walls, concrete sidewalk, site lighting, closed-circuit television (CCTV) security cameras, and related on-site utilities.

The PNR is located directly adjacent to a transit center and traction power substation (TPSS)/operator's building. This PNR facility provides parking for a minimum of 500 vehicles. The scope of services included site planning, horizontal control and paving design, grading and drainage design, on-site retention facilities, structural design (site walls), traffic circulation studies, basis of design reports, and drainage reports.
