Standing on the top floor of a skyscraper.
Having a teacher believe in you.
Putting on a hard hat for the first time.
These experiences – and many more – sparked our employees’ passion for engineering.
In honor of Engineers Week 2025, we caught up with a few engineers. They shared their inspirations, career journeys, and advice for aspiring engineers.
Educators say 74 percent of students don’t have many chances to meet engineers. We sought to change that.
E-Week celebrates how engineers make a difference, promotes the need for engineers, and encourages students to pursue engineering careers. Yet educators say 74 percent of students don’t have many chances to meet engineers. We sought to change that.
For the second year in a row, we are sharing the possibilities of engineering with 2,500 students throughout the country. Our volunteers are visiting classrooms to lead engineering activities like building towers and straw bridges.
It may not be standing atop a skyscraper, but we’re confident that small classroom interactions have a profound impact to inspire future engineers.
“Our engineers are proof that the work we do to influence the next generation is important,” said Olsson’s Sarah Mullen, who organized the E-Week volunteer activities. “Many of them remember who opened their eyes to the profession or even wish they could’ve been exposed to engineering sooner. I’m proud of Olsson’s commitment to this effort and the next generation.”
