To continue providing innovative health care choices for residents in Nebraska’s panhandle, hospital officials knew changes were needed. As a result, they chose to expand and renovate the facility.

Working as a subcontractor for a regional construction company, We provided the civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering services and the data networking design for the project. The project was completed in four phases to allow Box Butte General Hospital to remain open for business throughout construction.

The two-story, 88,000-square-foot addition was built first so the renovation could occur within the existing facility without disrupting patient care. The new unit houses a 25-bed patient care unit and ancillary medical services dedicated to the care of area residents.

In addition, the project included a new emergency room, imaging room, intensive care unit, a state-of-the-art laboratory, pharmacy, specialty clinic, surgery suites, administrative offices, and a new main entrance.  

Box Butte General Hospital is the only sizeable hospital in a 50-mile radius, giving area residents a local option for high-quality care.
