Initially designed for traffic management, this network now supports numerous city facilities and plays a critical role in emergency services, staff connectivity, facility payments, and essential infrastructure monitoring.

Today, Ankeny is once again transforming its connectivity. Recognizing the need for a more reliable and expansive network, the city enlisted Olsson’s team of traffic and technology professionals to complete its ambitious Fiber Optic Network Master Plan. This visionary project aims to future-proof Ankeny's digital infrastructure, supporting the community's growth and technological advancements.

With a clear directive to develop a robust and scalable network, we conducted extensive planning and collaborated with city stakeholders. Our efforts included a thorough assessment of the existing system to determine connectivity needs, resulting in a master plan that prioritized key projects and outlined a phased implementation approach. The proposed fiber optic network will feature a path-diverse ring topology, providing redundant routes that enhance reliability and resilience. This design will enable Ankeny's network to effectively manage traffic signals and support city services, facilitating seamless communication across all facilities.
