Olsson, a nationally recognized engineering and design firm, today announced that David Skinner has been named senior director of operations. He will be responsible for managing the firm’s operational activities and charting key metrics to drive business growth.

Skinner brings nearly 30 years of experience in the civil engineering industry to Olsson. He spent the last 16 years at one of the largest design firms in the world, where he most recently served as senior vice president and area operations manager for Arizona and New Mexico.

In addition, Skinner will serve on Olsson’s senior leadership team. He will be based in Olsson’s Phoenix office.

“David will consult with Olsson’s executives to set the strategies and priorities for the operations team, and then put the team on a course for success,” said Ryan Beckman, president of Olsson. “David understands our industry and what it takes to be exceptional, and we’re excited to have him help the firm continue to grow and reach the next level.”

Skinner served in various roles in Washington State before relocating to the Phoenix area. He was a transportation project manager for a large engineering firm in Seattle, served as public works director for the City of Gig Harbor, was a bridge engineer for Pierce County and was a transportation design engineer for the Washington State Department of Transportation.

“My wide-range of engineering experience, especially in the transportation market, uniquely positions me to help Olsson drive strategic growth by focusing on the right business metrics and implementing operational efficiencies that lead to success,” Skinner said. “I’m looking forward to this new challenge and helping Olsson achieve its business goals.”

Skinner is a graduate of Washington State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
