Children’s Campus of Kansas City

Kansas City, Kansas

The Children’s Campus of Kansas City (CCKC) is a 72,000-square-foot Educare Center that was founded in 2004 with the goal to help children at or below the poverty level have access to the resources available to succeed. Working with architect RDG Planning and Design, we provided preliminary plans, final plan development, stormwater management, retaining wall design, and landscape design for the facility. The team also achieved a LEED® Silver certification for the project.

Studies have shown that children from low-income households are at a greater risk for health and social problems and often enter kindergarten two grade levels behind their peers from higher income households.

CCKC houses early childhood services, family support services, and oral health and mental health services for young children and their families. Twelve early education model classrooms in the building will be managed by Project EAGLE, a major division of the University of Kansas’ Department of Pediatrics. Project EAGLE serves more than 1,000 children and their families annually.

CCKC is located on the corner of 5th Street and Minnesota Avenue. The land was donated by the Dickinson Financial Corporation.
