OMAHA, Nebraska (February 25, 2021) – Brittni Yates, technical leader on Olsson’s Nebraska Water/Wastewater team, was named the 2021 Young Professional of the Year by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Nebraska, the group announced today.
Yates, who joined Olsson in 2018, is responsible for managing and leading key client accounts, organizing technical resources for projects, directing team members on design approaches and promoting efficiencies that produce quality work.
As a professional engineer, Yates has extensive experience providing project management, planning, engineering design, and construction management services for water quality and water treatment projects.
“What sets Brittni apart from other engineers is the effect she has on the industry,” said Justin Stark, Nebraska Water/Wastewater team leader. “She realizes that her work has far-reaching implications beyond our firm, and she strives to make sure those results are positive. For Brittni, projects do not end with the final punch list or walk-through. Brittni invests in the health, safety and well-being of our clients and the communities she serves.”
Yates has served as president, past president, vice president and board member of the Engineers Club of Omaha. She has also served on the public communication and outreach committees with the Water Environment Federation and has headed up committees for the Nebraska Water Environment Association. She is also actively involved with the Nebraska chapter of the American Water Works Association, Engineers Without Borders and the Alpha Omega Epsilon Engineering Sorority at South Dakota State University.
The effect Yates has had on communities is far-reaching. She has traveled with nonprofit organizations to several developing countries such as Haiti, Bolivia, Guatemala and Colombia to work on water and sanitation needs for local communities.
